Video clip of man reversing into another car leads to his arrest

PASIR GUDANG: A 52-year-old man has been arrested by police here after a video showing him reversing his car into another vehicle made the rounds on social media.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said that following checks, it was found that the incident in the 22sec video occurred in Taman Megah Ria last week.

"The incident happened due to a misunderstanding where one car scraped another.

"The suspect wanted to claim damages but was ignored by the owner of the other car.

"After that, the suspect reversed his car, hitting the other one," he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 18).

He said the suspect was arrested at about 10.30pm on Wednesday (Aug 17) at his house in Permas.

"We were able to trace the registration number of his car and arrested him at home," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Supt Mohd Sohaimi reminded the public to always adhere to road rules and regulations and not take matters into their own hands to the point of endangering others.
