Man, 50, nabbed for assaulting teenage daughter

AMPANG: A 50-year-old man has been detained for allegedly assaulting his teenage daughter at their home in Taman Saga here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the suspect and the victim's mother were arguing about money at about 7.55pm on Wednesday (Aug 17).

"He told the victim's mother to ask for money from other family members but she refused, after which he pulled her hair,” he said.

ACP Mohamad Farouk added when contacted on Thursday (Aug 18) that the accused then asked the victim to accompany her mother and go to their relatives' homes to ask for money, but she also refused.

The 16-year-old victim's refusal angered the suspect, who shouted at his daughter before slapping and shoving her, he said.

"The suspect also stepped on the victim's head. The victim was sent to Hospital Ampang for treatment," he added.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said the suspect was detained at about 4am on Thursday (Aug 18).

"He has a criminal record and will be remanded for further investigation," he added.

The case has been classified under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, he said.
