Be wary of scam phone calls using Communications Ministry's name


KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public are advised to be wary of scam phone calls allegedly from individuals claiming to be from the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.

Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek also asked the public to verify calls by calling its official lines at 03-8911 5351, 03-8911 5188, 03-8911 5258 or 03-8911 5265.

"Apart from that, members of the public are also advised not to provide or disclose any information to the callers,” he said in a statement here on Wednesday (Aug 17).

Any suspected scam phone call or text message must be reported to the police’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) Response Centre at 03-2610 1559 or 03-2610 1599. – Bernama
