KUALA LUMPUR: Sharing insight into the one-stop shop that is Carsome, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said it was good to see their growth.
Dr Wee, who visited the Carsome Certified Lab, in Setia Alam, Klang on Tuesday (Aug 16) said he was briefed on their business operations during his time there.
"I was briefed on their business operations which offers buying, financing, insuring, and selling cars online.
"Like many other economic sectors, used car transactions are going through a conversion process by incorporating many elements of the digital economy in their businesses," he said in a post on social media on Tuesday (Aug 16).
Dr Wee said he was met and briefed by Carsome co-founder and group chief executive officer Eric Cheng and its regional public affairs head Leeroy Ting Kah Sing.
"With shareholders including Khazanah Nasional, Penjana Kapital and Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd, it is good to see Carsome being Malaysia's first unicorn startup.
"It was valued at US$ 1bil in 2021.
"Now they are South-East Asia's largest integrated car e-commerce platform with some 18,000 cars transacted per month," he said.
