Six arrested in raid on job scam syndicate

KUALA LUMPUR: Five men and a woman were detained following a raid on a call centre.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said police raided the premises at Jalan Ceylon at about 5.25pm on Tuesday (Aug 9).

"We detained the suspects aged between 19 and 26 believed to be involved in a job scam syndicate.

We also seized 29 mobile phones, five CPUs, five keyboards, five mice and a laptop," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 10).

The syndicate has been operating for about a month, he said.

"The suspects have been remanded until Friday (Aug 12) for further investigation," he added.

ACP Noor Dellhan advised the public not to be duped by such scams.

"We urge those with information on any criminal activity to contact the Dang Wangi police headquarters at 03-26002222 or any nearest police station," he said.
