LABUAN: Labuan MCA is requesting the Federal Territories Ministry to allocate at least one seat to the party in the Labuan Corporation’s Advisory Council.
Speaking to Bernama, Labuan MCA chief Datuk Chin Hon Vui said the seat allocation for the Chinese-based party has been a tradition and should not be neglected.
In fact, he said there must be a mutual understanding in the allocation of seats in the council, as it represents the various interests of the business community.
The Advisory Council comprises a chairman and six members and the two-year term of all the members had expired last June.
Among those in the Council were Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Bersatu), Amir Zahari (PAS), Dayang Rusniah @ Raynie Datuk Din (NGO), Awang Gani Yunus, Datuk Wong Kii Yii (business chamber) and Datuk Dahlif Singh (business chamber).
Traditionally, all the seven seats were allocated to ruling government component party leaders, business chambers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The Chairman’s post had been filled by Datuk Seri Amir Hussain who was reappointed early this month, while six other posts are still pending. - Bernama
