Johor Ruler confers award on outgoing state Bomba director

JOHOR BARU: State Fire and Rescue director Datuk Yahaya Madis has been conferred an award by Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar here for his years of service.

Sultan Ibrahim conferred the Darjah Sultan Ibrahim Johor Yang Amat Disanjungi Pangkat Ketiga Setia Mulia Sultan Ibrahim Johor (SIJ) to Yahaya, who is about to retire on Aug 14.

According to a statement on the Sultan’s Facebook page, the award was conferred after the Ruler granted Yahaya and department deputy director Mohd Rizal Buang an audience here on Monday (Aug 8).

During the meeting, Yahaya also presented the latest reports on inspections conducted on palaces in the state.

“I thank the Sultan for conferring the SIJ award on me. This is not only a great honour for me but also to everyone in the state Fire and Rescue Department.

“I also hope that the close relationship between the Johor Palace and the department would continue to be fostered by the new director,” Yahaya said in a statement on Facebook.

Also present was state secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani.

The Batu Pahat-born Yahaya has served in the department for 26 years and has been the state director for three years and 10 months.
