Covid-19: Sarawak's weekly tally climbs from 505 to 602 cases


KUCHING: Sarawak's new Covid-19 cases increased to 602 in epidemiological week 31 (July 31-Aug 6), up by nearly a hundred from 505 the previous week.

In its weekly update on Monday (Aug 8), the state disaster management committee said Sarawak's tally of confirmed infections now totalled 310,243.

It said 594 of the new cases were in the milder Categories One and Two, while eight were in Categories Three to Five.

Kuching district had the highest number of new cases with 220, followed by Miri (102), Sibu (88), Bintulu (40) and Samarahan (32).

The committee said 25 districts reported between one and 11 new cases each, while 10 districts had no new cases.

One death was recorded in Sarikei division.
