Imam rescued after giant tree falls on car in Melaka


MELAKA: Firefighter rescued an imam of Bukit Beruang mosque after his car was trapped under a fallen giant tree.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department identified the victim as Mohd Rasidi A. Rahman who escaped unhurt in the 7.50am incident on Saturday (Aug 6).

The department's spokesman said the tree had hit the vehicle of the 47-year-old at a traffic light junction in Bukit Beruang.

The incident also saw another car being hit by the branches of the uprooted tree but the driver managed to reverse his car and left the scene when the firemen arrived at the scene at 8am.

The spokesman said the weather at the time of the incident was sunny.

He added that his team had cleared the branches from blocking the road after several hours.
