Covid-19 Watch: 3,927 new cases, says Health Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,927 new Covid-19 infections on Friday (Aug 5), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Saturday (Aug 6) that this brings the new total to 4,701,140 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 3,927, 14 are imported cases while 3,193 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 4,949 recoveries on Friday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 46,506.

Of the active cases, 96.4% or 44,843 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 24 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.4% of active cases or 1,587 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 52 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 38 require ventilator support.
