Cops looking for Kota Belud students after video of brawl goes viral


KOTA KINABALU: Police are looking for a group of students involved in a brawl that was caught on video in Sabah’s northern Kota Belud district.

The 36-second clip has been making the rounds on social media since Thursday (Aug 4).

Kota Belud OCPD Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said based on initial investigations, police established that the fight took place at a bus stop near a secondary school in Kampung Usukan at about 1.30pm on Wednesday day (Aug 3).

"We are trying to locate all the students involved to find out what caused the fight," he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 5).

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for fighting in a public place and disturbing public peace.

Supt Shahrudin advised the people against speculating about the incident so as not to cause confusion.

"This will also prevent any disruption of our investigations," he said.
