Cops arrest duo over robbery at 24-hour convenience shop in Ampang


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two men in connection with the robbery of a cashier at a 24-hour convenience shop here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the incident occurred at 3.33am on July 29 at Taman Ampang Mewah here.

"The complainant, a local woman, claimed she was robbed at knifepoint by a man. The suspect fled with RM331 cash from the cash register," he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 5).

He said following investigations, police arrested two unemployed 26-year-old men following raids at Taman Sri Watan and Bandar Baru Ampang at around 1.15am on Friday.

He said one of the suspects had a record of two offences related to drugs.

"We also seized a weapon, clothes and a vehicle which were used in the incident.

"We have also linked the suspects to at least two gold shop robberies here between July and Aug this year," he said, adding that both suspects have been remanded to help with further investigations.
