Female suspect held to assist in gang-rape case

MANJUNG: Another suspect has been remanded to assist in a gang-rape case involving a 16-year-old.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the female suspect was a friend of the victim.

“We believe that the new suspect was the one who brought the victim to the other suspects.

“She is a few years older than the victim,” he told reporters at the Pulau Pangkor police station here yesterday.

On July 20, six suspects aged between 16 and 21 were arrested for allegedly raping the victim.

The victim’s mother lodged a police report after finding her daughter lying unconscious in a house at Panorama Lapangan Terbang here.

Separately, the police have arrested a man for allegedly abusing his girlfriend’s eight-month-old baby boy.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the boyfriend was arrested on the same day as the baby’s mother, which was on Monday.

“The boyfriend is a policeman working outside Perak and has been suspended from duty.

“He has been remanded for seven days since July 26,” he said.

On July 25, the baby died after being allegedly abused. He was taken to the hospital by his mother after being found unconscious in Sungai Siput. The initial examination showed that there were many injuries on the baby’s body, and the post-mortem showed that the injuries were caused by a blunt object.
