PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has been awarded the ICE UK Fellowship (FICE) presented by its vice president Dr Anusha Shah.
“As a professional civil engineer, I am extremely honoured to receive this Fellowship, which is the highest membership level in a reputed civil engineering institute.
“ICE UK has been established for almost 200 years with a global network of 95,000 civil engineers in over 160 countries.
“I am extremely proud to be recognised by an internationally respected qualification body for the civil engineering field,” said the Transport Minister who was in London for his daughter's graduation.
He also thank the 157th president of ICE UK, Ed McCann, for the invitation extended to him.
He said McCann was in Kuala Lumpur to deliver his presidential speech on July 25 during ICE UK's official visit to the region.
“I can't be there, but I hope to meet with the ICE president someday to discuss methods to improve sustainability and productivity in engineering work.”
