12-year-old boy goes on 120kph joyride on highway

BORED with staying at home, a 12-year-old boy took his father’s car for a spin, taking his younger sister along, and was seen speeding at 120kph on a highway.

Sin Chew Daily reported that Huzhou city police in China received a call from a man named Zhang on July 18, saying that his car was missing.

Using public CCTVs, police found the car on the G25 Changchun-Shenzhen Expressway and were stunned that the video footage showed a boy behind the wheel with a girl on the passenger seat. The vehicle was speeding at 120km/h.

When Zhang realised that they were his children, he yelled on the phone: “Police officer, sir! Please save my children!”

Eventually, police got to the car near the expressway’s Yixing county exit.

The boy later explained that he was bored doing nothing at home and decided to go for a joyride.

He credited his driving skills to his video-game playing.

> Hong Kong veteran actor Eric Tsang hoped that actors would not view TVB as their “enemy” after leaving the broadcasting company, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Tsang, who re-joined the broadcaster last year and took on the deputy general manager post, pointed out that many actors left TVB unhappy and treated it as their sworn enemy.

As such, he hoped that under his new position, he could help TVB actors earn a higher income.

“What I hope is for artistes to be able to earn more money than before.

“Then they will be happy and remain here,” he said.

Tsang, 69, was promoted to general manager (content operations) on Sept 27 last year.
