Housewife, friend charged with murder of spouse


JOHOR BARU: A housewife and her friend have been charged with killing her husband at their flat in Taman Daya about two weeks ago.

Margaret Law, 36, and Fam Mee Fatt, 53, were jointly charged before magistrate Nurmadiana Mamat yesterday with killing Lee Ming How, 44.

They were alleged to have committed the act at a flat in Jalan Nipah here on July 14.

Law and Fam were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Act, with committing murder.

The offence carries the death penalty upon conviction.

No plea was recorded.

Nurmadiana fixed Sept 27 for the next mention, pending a post-mortem report.

Later, Law and Fam were charged again after testing positive for drugs.

Law tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine at the Johor Baru South police headquarters at around 1.30pm on July 15.

Fam also tested positive for methamphetamine at the same location at 12.01am on July 16.

Both accused pleaded guilty under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. Nurmadiana fined each RM1,700, in default of six months in jail.
