Man arrested for assaulting ex-wife at Ampang home

AMPANG: A 57-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife at their home in Taman Melor here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 47-year-old victim returned home at about 4.30pm on Saturday (July 23) and discovered that her house had been ransacked.

"As she was lodging a police report at the Pandan Indah police station, she was informed that her ex-husband was at home.

"When she returned home, an argument ensued and the suspect allegedly hit his wife," he said when contacted on Sunday (July 24).

He added that the victim was treated at Hospital Ampang for injuries to her face and neck.

"A team of policemen went to the victim's house at at 6.38pm the same day and detained the suspect. We also seized three packets believed to be filled with ganja and the suspect tested positive for THC," he added.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said the suspect had nine prior offences in his criminal record.

"We believe the cause of the fight between the two was due to the suspect not being allowed to see his children. The suspect has been remanded until Wednesday (July 27)," he said.
