JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah have safely returned to Johor after their three-day visit to Singapore.
The Sultan and Permaisuri had been in the island republic since Wednesday (July 20) on the invitation of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
"His Majesty's official visit to Singapore did not only strengthen the relations between Johor and the Republic but also brought a lot of benefits in terms of economy for the people," read a statement on the Sultan's Facebook page on Friday (July 22).

Before returning home, the Sultan and Permaisuri visited the Yusof Ishak Institute (ISEAS) at the National University of Singapore.
According to a separate statement in the Sultan's Facebook, they spent over an hour at the institute, where they were given a walk through some of the oldest books, letters, documents and maps found there.
"The visit to ISEAS, which is named after Singapore’s First President Yusof Ishak, was a fitting final leg of the itinerary for the Royal visit to the Republic, as it is a treasure trove of historical documents and maps, including those pertaining to Johor and Malaysia.

"The research institution, which is under the purview of Singapore’s Education Ministry, conducts a range of research programmes; holds conferences, workshops, lectures and seminars; as well as publishes briefs, research journals and books.
"It particularly has a rich and impressive collection of resource materials on Malaysia and Johor, which intrigued and caught the attention of the Royal couple," the statement read.
