Preacher nabbed for rape of girl, 14

PETALING JAYA: A preacher has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam said a report was lodged by the victim on Saturday (July 16).

“Investigations showed that the victim and suspect have known each other since May last year.

"Since then several intimate encounters have taken place in different locations.

“The suspect was arrested on July 18 (Monday) at 4.50pm at the Kuala Selangor police headquarters. He has been remanded until July 23,” she said in a statement on Tuesday (July 19).

She added that as of now, four investigation papers involving the suspect have been opened, including one in Perak.

The case is being investigated for rape and child sexual assault.
