Fire breaks out at Kinabatangan’s SMK Tongod switch room


KOTA KINABALU: A fire broke out at the main switch room of SMK Tongod in Kinabatangan on Sunday (July 17).

However, no casualties were recorded.

The Fire and Rescue Department earlier received the emergency call at 11.35am alerting the incident.

"The fire originated from the switch room located on the first floor of the school hostel.

"Measuring 10 x 20 square foot where mattress and bedding were also stored, items in the room were completely burned and the fire spread to the second floor.

"The team on scene, however, managed to get the blaze under control at 1.44pm and after ensuring there were no other risks, the operation ended at 3.16pm," said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson.
