PKR Convention: Wan Azizah expresses regret over internal conflict

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pic) wants PKR members to be consistent with the party’s original struggle.

The PKR advisory council chairman also expressed regret over the party's internal conflict involving “enemies from within”.

She raised concern over the unrest that was believed to have occurred during the recent PKR election.

Although she did not detail the incident, the statement was believed to involve a dispute over results of the party's election.

"In an election, there must be a winner, there must be a loser, that’s normal.

"The election is over, this is the time for us to regain our strength and continue to be consistent with our original struggle.

"We are not enemies, we are the same party, if you want to leave, it's okay to leave.

"But in our party, don’t be an enemy in a blanket or be a fire in a husk.

"Don't destroy what we have built together," she said when addressing the 16th PKR National Congress here on Friday (July 15).

Dr Wan Azizah said the party elections had tested brotherhood and sisterhood among PKR members and leaders.

“We clashed during the campaign when electing the party leader.

"In any competition, there will be winners and there will be losers. That's normal.

"But, we must remember manners as a friend and foe, morals and decency," added the Pandan MP.
