PM: Tajuddin to clarify ambassador status


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman will clarify his status as ambassador to Indonesia, says the Prime Minister after his name was dropped by Putrajaya.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri (pic) said after he was door stopped at an event on Wednesday (July 13).

"Tajuddin will issue a statement," he said before walking off.

On Tuesday (July 13), Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah presented letters of appointment to four new Malaysian heads of missions at Istana Negara here.

The newly-appointed heads of missions were Malaysian Ambassador to South Korea Datuk Lim Jay Jin, Malaysian Ambassador to Japan Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah and Malaysian Ambassador to Iran Khairi Omar.

Also present were Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar and Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Amran Mohamed Zin.

Tajuddin was not mentioned in the report.

It was reported that Tajuddin was dropped by Putrajaya according to sources in Wisma Putra.

"Yes, his name has been dropped, confirmed," said the source briefly when contacted on Monday (July 11).

The Star has attempted to contact Tajuddin to obtain a confirmation regarding his position as the Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia.
