Remains of unidentified man found in roadside bushes at Penampang

KOTA KINABALU: The remains of an unidentified man were discovered in bushes along Jalan Penampang-Tambunan on Monday (July 11).

The nearly rotting body was found by public members at KM39 of the stretch near Kampung Tudan Poring, said Penampang OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim.

"The police received the information of the discovery at 2.20pm on Monday, and sent a team to the scene.

"They found the remains without any identification documents on the deceased in the bushes there.

"Further inspection by the crime investigation department's forensics unit from the state police contingent did not find any criminal element linked to the already decomposing body," he said on Tuesday (June 12).

The body has been sent to the forensics department of the Queen Elizabeth district hospital for autopsy.

Mohd Haris said an investigation paper has been opened and the case is classified as sudden death.

"Public members who have information on any missing family members or friends are urged to make a report to the nearest police station or contact the Penampang police action room at 088-723961," he added.
