Suspect nabbed over murder of single mum at Mukah resort


SIBU: A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a single mother in a resort in Mukah on Sunday (July 10).

Mukah OCPD Deputy Supt Muhamad Rizal Alias said the suspect was picked up at a house at about 1.40pm the same day, about one hour after the victim was found dead in her room at the resort.

"The suspect was last seen with the victim. We believe we have solved the case with his arrest," he said here on Monday (July 11).

He added that police rushed to the resort at 12.35pm after being informed of the woman's death.

"The victim had injuries on her neck and waist," said DSP Muhamad Rizal.

The 44-year-old victim, from Sibu, left behind two children.

DSP Muhamad Rizal said the woman had checked into the resort on Saturday (July 9) afternoon with her two children.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
