Meat recipient passes away during Aidiladha distribution ceremony


ALOR GAJAH: A 55-year-old man was found dead during the distribution of meat in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at the Masjid Tanah parliamentary service centre on Monday (July 11).

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said the man, identified as Abd Malik Bakar, failed to respond when his name was called out by the organiser to collect his package at about 11am.

"A representative of the organiser went to where the man was sitting and found him unconscious.A few people then carried the man to a sofa before alerting the Kuala Sungai Baru health clinic," he said.

Supt Arshad said an ambulance arrived and medical officers confirmed that the man had passed away.

He said the organiser then lodged a police report.

Supt Arshad said the matter has been classified as a sudden death report pending results of an autopsy.
