Woman injured by falling tree in Penampang hill farm

KOTA KINABALU: A 51-year-old woman suffered a severe shoulder injury when a tree fell on her at a farm in the Penampang district near here.

The victim, Maria Gihol, was tending her farm when the tree fell on her at around 3.15pm Sunday (July 10).

Firemen and villagers had to lift the fallen tree off the victim and stretchered her from her farm situated on hilly terrain.

"She suffered injuries to her shoulder and was taken to the hospital," said a Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department spokesman.

Firemen have responded to at least 40 cases of trees falling, due to heavy rains and strong winds slamming the west coast of Sabah since Saturday (July 9) night.

Bad weather conditions persist on Sunday.
