Orang Asli man killed in three-vehicle pile-up in Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: An Orang Asli man was killed in an accident involving three vehicles at KM52 of Jalan Sungai Rengit here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said that the incident took place at about 11am on Sunday (July 10) when a driver lost control of his car, a foreign-registered vehicle from a neighbouring country.

He said the car, which came from Kota Tinggi and was headed to Sungai Rengit, skidded to the opposite lane and rammed into another car.

"An SUV that was behind the second car was unable to stop in time and collided into the car in front.”

He added that the driver of the second car, a 35-year-old man, suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene.

"Three other victims in the second car between the ages of five and 31 sustained injuries but the 36-year-old driver of the SUV was uninjured.

"Meanwhile, four other victims, foreigners between the ages of nine and 48 were also injured. All injured were sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for further treatment," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
