Melaka CM denies there is a plot to oust him

MELAKA: Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali has broken his silence over the speculation that there is over an attempt to oust him.

The Lendu assemblyman replied "It's not true" when The Star messaged him on Saturday (July 9).

Sulaiman was also asked if there was any truth to another viral message that a top Umno leader had given his blessing to Melaka Umno chief Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh to table the motion of no-confidence during the state legislative assembly proceedings at the end of the July.

Sulaiman also said that this was untrue.

Speculation on the attempt to oust Sulaiman emerged following an article in a news portal on Friday (July 8).

However, Abd Rauf who is also Melaka Barisan Nasional chief, rubbished the allegation the same day.

Sulaiman has survived two attempts to oust him but his administration collapsed on Oct 4, 2021 after four assemblymen withdrew their support for the Barisan Nasional/Perikatan Nasional-led state government, then.

This led to a state election being held in December 2021, which Barisan won, and Sulaiman was sworn-in as Chief Minister again.
