Ops Lancar in Johor to ensure smooth traffic during Hari Raya Haji

JOHOR BARU: Johor police will launch Ops Lancar to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Hari Raya Haji celebrations on Sunday (July 10).

State police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the operation would start on Friday (July 8) and end on Monday (July 11).

"We have identified 31 hot spots and black spots throughout Johor, which are expected to see traffic congestions.

"These locations also see frequent road accidents and the police will carry out enforcement in the areas to reduce the accident rates, especially involving death," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 7).

Comm Kamarul Zaman advised road users, especially those going back to their hometowns, to always maintain discipline and follow the rules.

"Always be courteous on the road and do not be selfish to other road users.

"Control your emotion, be patient and avoid making provocations that could lead to unpleasant issues," he added.

Comm Kamarul Zaman also said that besides focusing on road safety, police would have its attention on crime cases particularly preventing house break-in as many people were expected to be away from their homes during the extended weekend.
