KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry was not informed about the invitation of a self-identified "mat rempit" to a secondary school in Kuala Lumpur, says Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.
The Education Minister said he was only informed of the matter last night and it would be looked into based on the context of the invite.
"The ministry was not informed about the invite.
"Let’s not rush. We will look into the facts and investigate the details to see what really happened," he said, adding that normally, schools would invite speakers to give talks.
Radzi was speaking after launching the Digital Utilisation and Technology Awards 2021 on Thursday (July 7).
On Wednesday (July 6), a video of the "mat rempit" went viral on social media.
Netizens vented their frustrations, questioning the basis of the invite.
