SEREMBAN: An officer of a Negri Sembilan exco member has confirmed that he has been questioned by police for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman.
Ahmad Shukri Kamaruddin, who is a research officer, said he would give his full cooperation to the police.
"I was called in by the cops yesterday and today and have been cooperating with the police as I want the probe to be as transparent as possible.
"I believe the allegation against me is politically motivated and an act of revenge," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 6).
Ahmad Shukri said he would continue to assist in the investigation and was also considering legal action to clear his name.
On Tuesday (July 5), Seremban police chief Asst Comm Nanda Ma'araof said a woman lodged a report on the alleged incidents on Sunday (July 4).
The suspect allegedly committed the offence on two occasions at a hotel here.
It is learnt that the incidents happened on March 30 and April 26.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using force with intent to outrage a victim's modesty.
Offenders can be jailed up to 10 years or fined or whipped or given any of the two punishments upon conviction.
