Friend shot dead in freak accident

KAJANG: A 32-year-old man died after he was shot in a freak accident in Hulu Langat.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said that the incident occurred on Wednesday (July 6) inside a forest within Batu 18 in Hulu Langat.

"Investigations showed that the victim and three friends entered the area towards a durian plantation. One of his friends, who had carried a shotgun fell, with the gun dropping from his grasp and causing the gun to fire. The victim, who was around three metres away, was hit and died at the scene.

"As of now, no reasons were given as to why the shotgun was brought. The firearm was registered under the name of an uncle of one of the deceased's friends," he said when contacted.

All three friends, aged 36 to 43 years old, have been detained to assist investigations.

Those with information on the case are urged to contact investigating officer ASP Redzuan Mat Salleh at 013 785 4100.
