Covid-19: Sabah records 196 new cases

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 196 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (July 6), and the number is expected to gradually increase over the next few days, says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).

The minister in charge of Covid-19 matters in the state said the new infections were an increase by 53 cases from Tuesday (July 5).

“Based on the latest statistics, the daily cases are expected to increase.

“The positivity rate is 9.76% from the total 2,828 test samples checked,” he said.

Masidi reminded the public to continue with precautionary measures such as wearing masks in confined or crowded areas and practising good personal hygiene.

“Putting on face masks does not only reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission but also other respiratory diseases,” he said in his daily Covid-19 briefing.

Masidi added that Kota Kinabalu district recorded 99 cases followed by Penampang (24), Tuaran (14), Lahad Datu (12) and Papar (11).

Of the new cases, 192 are under Category 1 and Category 2, one under Category 3, two under Category 4 and one under Category 5.
