Tajuddin welcome to join PAS, says Nur Jazlan

JOHOR BARU: Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman is welcome to join PAS, says Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

The Johor Umno deputy chairman said he has always been attracted to the opportunist behaviour shown by PAS, adding that they would take anyone that gives them a political advantage.

“Last week, after Tajuddin was dismissed from the Umno supreme council member and his tell-all press conference, PAS secretary general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and the party Perak commissioner Razman Zakaria immediately tried to woo him," said Nur Jazlan.

Nur Jazlan added in a Facebook post on Monday (July 4) that he could not stop from laughing when reading the statements made by the two PAS leaders.

“PAS will make way in the Pasir Salak seat for Tajuddin to contest in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15), using a Perikatan Nasional ticket representing the Islamist party," he said.

The Pulai Umno division chief, said it was not wrong for him to label PAS leaders and ministers as “cap ayam” as they would always find those who were similar to them.

Nur Jazlan added that Tajuddin is a liability to Umno, as he likes to ridicule the party president and humiliate the party.

Nur Jazlan, who has already stated that he would not be contesting in GE15, added that people like this could not be trusted just like PAS leaders, especially among Malay voters who do not believe in political rhetoric.

He said it was time for Umno and Barisan Nasional in Pasir Salak to reform its leadership.

“Tajuddin has been the MP for Pasir Salak for more than two decades and has held many positions from minister to a chairman of a government linked company and he has been appointed as an ambassador. Give others a chance," said Nur Jazlan.

Bernama reported on June 27 that Takiyuddin said Tajuddin can join PAS at any time to continue his political career.

"Anyone can join PAS (including Tajuddin). We can and will accept it. In fact, in a programme in Kedah recently, about 12,000 new members were registered, including new voters. We will see the potential of support available," he was reported saying.

Takiyuddin, who is also the Energy and Natural Resources Minister, was commenting on Perak PAS' offer to Tajuddin to represent the party in GE15, after being dropped from Umno supreme council.
