KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man for allegedly beating his father at Kampung Indah Permai, here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the incident occurred at around 10.30pm on Thursday (July 30).

"We received information that a 63-year-old businessman got involved in a heated argument with his 33-year-old son, who works as a dispatch rider.

"During the argument, the suspect repeatedly punched the victim," he said when contacted on Saturday (July 2).

He said the victim suffered injuries to his forehead, and left eyelid.

"The suspect also allegedly threatened to further hurt the elderly man if he contacted the police.

"The incident was sparked after the victim suspected his son was on drugs," he said.

He said police arrested the suspect, and further checks revealed he had three prior records.

"The suspect also tested positive for methamphetamines.

"We have remanded the suspect for four days," he said, adding that the case has been classified as voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
