Cops arrest 19 for rioting in Ara Damansara


PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested 15 men believed to be involved in a brawl at Ara Damansara.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said they received a call at around 9am on Friday (July 1) over the incident.

"We received information that at least 20 people were rioting armed with sticks.

"We dispatched a team from the Petaling Jaya police headquarters and arrested 15 men and four women aged between 15 and 27," he said in a statement on Saturday (July 2).

He said police seized a baseball bat, believed to be used by one of the suspects.

"Checks revealed two suspects had prior criminal records.

"We have classified the case as rioting under Section 148 of the Penal Code," he said, adding that the 19 suspects have been remanded for four days to help with further investigations.
