KUALA LUMPUR: A husband and wife and their younger brother were killed when their car collided head-on with a lorry in Serendah early Thursday (June 30).
The couple have been identified as P. Thamilselvam, who was at the wheel, and his wife B. Janani Sri, both 25, and P. Sasitaran, 18.
Sasitaran was Thamilselvam’s brother.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the three were believed to be travelling from Rawang to Serendah while the lorry was coming from the opposite direction.
He said they collided in front of the Serendah Skills Development Centre at about 4.35am.
"The Kuala Kubu fire station rushed eight firemen to the scene which is located about 28km from the station.
“The team arrived at 4.57am," he said, adding that the three who were in a Perodua Myvi died at the scene.
Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Arsad Kamaruddin meanwhile said the crash was believed to have occurred when the car went into the opposite lane.
“The bodies have been sent to Hospital Kuala Kubu Baru for post-mortem.
"The lorry driver received treatment at a clinic in Rawang for chest injuries," he said and urged anyone with information on the accident to contact the nearest police station to help in the investigation.
