Peeping tom in PJ nabbed


PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a peeping tom-cum-thief in connection with a number of break-ins and thefts here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said police were alerted after a 35-year-old woman lodged a report claiming her room window was left open at around 8am last Thursday (June 23).

"She claimed she checked her house at Section14 here and found that the house gate had also been damaged.

"Further checks revealed her personal documents, mobile phone, keys, bank documents and cosmetics were missing," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 29).

He said that based on information, police arrested a 32-year-old man who was behaving suspiciously near Section 4 here.

"Checks on the suspect revealed various items believed to have been stolen including, shoes, a jewellery box, cash, and electronic gadgets.

"He was arrested and further checks led to the discovery of a motorcycle which was reported stolen here as well," he said.

ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin said upon questioning, the suspect confessed his involvement in various crimes.

"We have successfully solved two house break-ins, two thefts, a motorcycle theft and a peeping tom incident based on his arrest.

"He said checks also revealed the suspect had a prior record for crime and drug abuse," he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded to help with further investigations.
