Faulty brakes cause cement mixer lorry to crash into two houses

IPOH: A cement mixer lorry with faulty brakes crashed into two houses in Taman Bernam, Tanjung Malim on Tuesday (June 28) morning.

Those inside the houses were reported unhurt while the 36-year-old driver sustained head injuries.

Muallim OCPD Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the incident happened at 9.55am.

He said the driver had just delivered a load and was leaving the area.

“He was going down a hill slope when the brakes gave way, forcing him to swerve and crash into the two houses.

“The driver has yet to lodge a police report as he is still at the hospital in Slim River for medical treatment,” he said.

Supt Mohd Hasni added that a blood sample had been taken from the driver and would be sent to the Chemistry Department for analysis.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
