Elderly man attacked by bull outside Bandar Menjalara home

KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly man was attacked by a bull in front of his home at Bandar Menjalara here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the incident occurred at around 10.15am on Friday (June 24).

He said the 81-year-old man was standing in front of his house to go out when he saw the bull running on the road.

"The bull ran towards the victim and gored him in the stomach, causing him to fall down," he said in a statement on Sunday (June 26).

He said the man suffered a fractured spine and other injuries due to the attack and is being treated at a hospital.

"We also found a number of videos on social media about the bull chasing a lorry driver along the Middle Ring Road 2 heading towards Sungai Buloh,” said ACP Beh.

He added that the lorry driver was not the owner of the bull and was merely taking action to catch the animal.

ACP Beh said that the man managed to tie the bull to an electrical pole but it later got free again and began running towards Sungai Buloh.

He said investigations revealed a police report was lodged over a bull which managed to free itself while it was in the process of getting a nose ring placed at a mosque near Kampung Selayang Lama on Friday.

"The animal was given to the mosque for Qurban. We believe it is the same animal which attacked the elderly man," he said, adding that the case was classified as negligently releasing an animal and causing danger to human life.

He urged anyone with information on the case to contact Sjn Nor Hafizullah Norahim at 017-223 2031 or the Sentul police operations centre at 03-4048 2222.
