Volunteers to monitor prices at markets to prevent exploitation, says Youth and Sports Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Volunteers will be deployed to monitor prices at markets to prevent any exploitation, says the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Its minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abd Hamid, in a joint statement, said this was in line with the government's issuing of subsidies for selected food essentials.

Any discrepancies detected by the volunteers will be reported directly to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.

"The ministry is confident that this strategic partnership with the MYC will mobilise the youths to help the government in making sure all consumer rights are protected and maintained," they said.
