KUALA LUMPUR: A popular actor who was detained for allegedly assaulting and threatening another man at a condominium in Segambut has been released on police bail.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the actor, in his 30s, was released at noon on Monday (June 20).

"We have completed the investigation. We will refer the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor today," he said when contacted.

The actor was detained and remanded for allegedly punching and kicking a man, who is also a resident of the condominium, at about 8.30pm on Thursday (June 16).

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Habibi Majinji previously said the victim had asked his friend to buy cooking oil from outside the condominium.

“When his friend arrived to deliver the item, he was not allowed into the condominium by a security guard.

“The victim went to the lobby to inquire why his friend was not allowed to enter and a quarrel broke out with the security guard before the actor suddenly punched and kicked him.

“He claimed that the actor punched and kicked him in the face, chest, stomach and back as well as threatened to kill him,” said ACP Habibi.

The victim lodged a report at the Sentul district police headquarters and the actor was subsequently detained on Friday (June 17).
