Covid-19 Watch: 2,127 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,127 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (June 18), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Sunday (June 19) that this brings the new total to 4,538,922 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,127, there are no imported cases - all of the cases are local.

The Health Ministry added that there were 1,390 recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 23,362.

Of the active cases, 96.2% or 25,350 individuals are undergoing home quarantine,while eight people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.7% of active cases or 981 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 23 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 16 require ventilator support.
