SPM 2021 results: 30 students in Johor score straight A+'s

Johor Education Department director Md Said Md Daimon speaking during a press conference after announcing Johor’s SPM results at the state Education Department here on Thursday (June 16).

JOHOR BARU: Only 30 candidates in Johor scored straight A+’s in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), says Md Said Md Daimon.

The Johor Education director said this was equivalent to 0.07% of the overall 43,253 candidates who sat for the major examination last year.

He said the exams also saw 1,122 candidates who scored A+, A and A- for their subjects and 6,031 candidates who obtained at least 1C.

There were 12,118 candidates who obtained at least 1G in the exam, he added.

Md Said said a total of 53 schools statewide achieved 100% passes and this included schools in the urban and rural areas.

“We are satisfied with the results this time round as the candidates are the first cohort of students who sat for the SPM exam using the new Standard-Based Curriculum for Secondary Schools exam format.

“They also faced the challenge of sitting for classes and preparing for the examination via online platforms due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is tough to compare the results to previous years as the format is different - it is like comparing apples and oranges.

“But I think this sets a strong basis for us to improve and move forward in the next SPM examination,” he told a press conference after announcing Johor’s SPM results at the state Education Department here on Thursday (June 16).

The SPM 2021 written exam ran from March 2 to March 29.

Md Said added that candidates can access their results online at myresultspm.moe.gov.my or via short message service (SMS), where candidates can check by typing SPMMyKad NumberRoll Number and SMS to 15888, from 10am onwards.
