Covid-19: High risk of infection at celebrations, crowded places, warns Masidi

KOTA KINABALU: People in Sabah should be aware that there is a high risk of sporadic Covid-19 infection during celebrations, festivals and in crowded places, says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

The Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson said 74% of Wednesday's (June 8) cases were due to sporadic infections.

This is likely due to relaxed standard operating procedures (SOP), like wearing face masks in outdoor settings.

Sabah recorded 65 cases on Wednesday, a marginal increase of two cases from Tuesday (June 7).

Kota Kinabalu reported 24 cases, down from 29, while Penampang registered 15 cases, up from three cases previously.

"What needs to be noted is that the number of clean districts (with zero cases) has dropped from 16 on Tuesday to 13 districts on Wednesday," said Masidi.
