Two men nabbed for allegedly molesting, raping 14-year-old girl

SIBU: Two men, one of whom is a foreigner, have been arrested for allegedly molesting and raping a 14-year old girl in Julau.

Julau OCPD Deputy Supt Andam Sulin said the victim's mother had, on June 5, lodged a police report claiming that two men had molested and raped her daughter, who is disabled.

The crime happened at about 6.45pm on June 4.

The woman said one of the suspects was a foreigner while the other was the victim's stepfather.

"We arrested two suspects who are in their 50s on the same day following a report lodged by the victim's mother," he said.

DSP Andam said the Sarikei Magistrate's Court had approved a seven-day remand order on the two suspects in the police lock-up.

The case is investigated under sections 376 and 376B of the Penal Code.

The offence under Section 376 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years while Section 376B provides for imprisonment of not less than six years but not more than 20 years, and also whipping if found guilty.

"We will not compromise with anybody who commits any offences against children. We also hope the community will work responsibly with us to overcome rape and sexual assault cases effectively," DSP Andam said.
