King confers Datukship on badminton great Foo Kok Keong


PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah conferred the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) award on former badminton great Foo Kok Keong in conjunction with His Majesty's official birthday on Monday (June 6).

Kok Keong, who was part of the 1992 Thomas Cup winning team, received the PJN, which carries the title “Datuk”, for his achievements in the sport.

Kok Keong became the first Malaysian to reach the No. 1 spot in the world ranking since the ranking system was implemented by the International Badminton Federation (IBF) in the 1980s.
