Business is picking up for stall operators, coffee shops and restaurants, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Stall operators, coffee shops and restaurants say business is encouraging in Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng, Johor.

Transport Minister and Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said he met with locals at a coffee shop in Yong Peng on Thursday (June 2).

In a Facebook post, he said he went to Choon Seng Coffee Shop after officiating at the Ayer Hitam Division MCA delegates meeting.

"Due to the high price of oil palm and the increasing number of visitors stopping in Yong Peng, the business in coffee shops and restaurants run by locals is very encouraging.

"Meanwhile, feedback from stall operators at Arena Warna Ayer Hitam also stated that their business performance increased dramatically until items such as crackers and chips, as well as ceramic items and flowers, were sold out," he said.

He added that these are good signs that show the economic recovery is gaining momentum following the reopening of the country's borders.

"It is hoped that the well-being and prosperity enjoyed now will continue and the stability of the country can be preserved," he said.
