TAMPIN: Police have arrested a 27-year-old security guard for impersonating a colonel in the Armed Forces’ Gerak Khas.
A fake pistol was also seized from the man who was detained at a house in Kp Sungai Layang in Rembau on Tuesday (May 31).
The man had been hiding from the authorities for over three years.
Tampin district police chief Supt Anuwal Ab Wahab said the man had attempted to enter a Territorial Army camp here on Dec 8, 2018.
"He apparently wanted to enter the camp to meet the deputy commanding officer and personnel from the sergeant major company.
“When asked for his authority card or any other document to prove that he was a senior officer from the Armed Forces, the man failed to produce any,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 1).
Supt Anuwal said police seized a set of Armed Forces uniform and the related accessories, a bag with a police logo and a set of handcuffs from the house.
"He was taken to the district police station for further questioning.
“The case is being probed under Section 170 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail of up to two years or fine or both upon conviction,” he said.
