Perak cops shoot at car of suspected drug dealer with kid and wife inside

MANJUNG: A 61-year-old man believed to be a drug dealer was arrested by the police in Ayer Tawar around 4pm Wednesday (June 1).

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the police had to fire six shots at the suspect's car to stop him from escaping.

"During a police patrol, the suspect was asked to stop his car. However, instead of stopping, he tried to escape recklessly and hit the front of a police car.

"As he was acting aggressively, the police had no choice but to shoot the suspect's car tires," he said.

Comm Mior said the suspect was arrested 0.8km away from the roadblock.

"We found 33 packets of syabu weighing 62.5g in his car.

"His wife, 38, and their two-year-old child were also in the car during the chase. They are under our custody to help with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
